Tall case brass dial clock, ca. 1750-1770.

Mahogany tall-case clock. The hood has a molded arch pediment with a molded and shaped pagoda top, three turned urn-and-spire finials on plinths, carved foliate ornament in the pagoda top, carved foliate ornament in the tympanum, free-standing fluted columns at the front corners, turned quarter columns at the back corners, arched sidelights, and a glazed door with an astragal top. Waist with cove and ogee moldings at the top, fluted quarter columns at the front corners, and a case door with a shaped top, concave bottom corners, and a molded edge. Base with cove and ovolo moldings at the top, ovolo moldings at the bottom, a shaped pendant drop and supported on short straight bracket feet. Composite brass dial with applied chapter ring with roman hour numerals and arabic minute numerals, applied cast ornament in the spandrels and lunette, and an applied name boss engraved "Gawen Brown Boston" in the lunette. Inside the chapter ring there is a seconds dial with an engraved compass rose motif, and a calendar aperture. Eight day movement.
